The snow we all knew was coming finally came—it dumped for real all day. But when it comes to the competitions scheduled for today, that was definitely a bad sign for competitors. Really affected was slopestyle qualifying for the men and women, where the extra wet layer made it slow and hard to deal with. On top of that, the fog was rolling in and out all day, meaning constantly changing conditions even from one run to the next. For a lot of riders, the conditions shut ‘em down.
Not Chas Guldemond and Kimmy Fasani though… both fought through and made it to tomorrow’s finals.
Extra impressive was Chas, who was Mr. consistent. He came out of the gates strong, stetting the top score of 78, sticking all his landings perfectly and basically running the field. He backed that up in round 2 with another 78… he was today’s top qualifier and will drop last in tomorrow’s finals.
Was it hard to ride today, Chas? “Not for me. I’ve got three layers of wax. That really mattered.”
Looking forward to tomorrow, Chas continued, “I’m really stoked to make it into the finals three years in a row. First place was pretty reassuring too. Tomorrow can be a completely different day though, so I’m gonna relax and take the same attitude into it. Just f**kin’ go for it.”
Glue yourself to your television tomorrow as Kimmy battles in the Women’s Slopestyle finals, followed by Chas in the Men’s Slopstyle finals!
