It took a while for the news to get across the mighty Pacific, but congratulations go to Chas Guldemond on his double win at the Nissan X-Trail Asian Open. He took the Slopestyle win, then surprised everyone by taking the win in Halfpipe.
First up was Slopestyle, and Chas murdered. His banger run saw a nosepress 270, Cab 9 Melon, BS 12 and a boardslide 270 out. It feels great -- I am so stoked to be out here in Japan and to be surrounded by all these good people. I will be back here next year for the X-Trail Jam and Asian Open -- count on it," said Chas. For his efforts: $15,000.
The surprise of the weekend came later, when Chas found himself on his first Halfpipe podium ever. With a melon, McTwist, a FS 7 Melon, Cab 10, and an alley oop Michael Chuck, the win was on lock.
It is a great day. I did not expect that. It is unbelievable, it is the first time I have ever been on the podium in the Halfpipe as well, said Chas afterwards.
Congrats Chas!
