Last weekend the snowboard world put a cap on the season at the West Coast Invitational in Mammoth, CA, with DC am Chas Guldemond taking the win in pipe then following that the very next day with a win at the rail jam. Not bad that's a $15,000 weekend for Chas!
With the weather warm, a solid winter in the books, and a cinco de Mayo holiday in the mix, the WCI is always tons of fun for the riders. The fiesta de la pipa, as the pipe part of the comp was dubbed, went down under sunnies skies, with Chas barreling through to the slush and the pis hanging over the lip take the win.
The competition was indeed stiff for the next night's rail jam down in the village, but Chas pretty much owned things as he bounced all over the set-up and found some creative ways to hit parts. A backside 270 to the 2nd down of the down-flat-down, a front 270 from the street rail take off to front board on the edge of the box, and a front flip attempt at the end of the night locked down the win for the "Buzzard".
Well done Chas! For a little more info about last weekend's season-ending WCI, check out the photos and recaps on TransWorld SNOWboarding's website.
